Seminars

In conjunction with the premier karate organizations in Japan, and using the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan as our base, we organize courses in Classical Karate for overseas students that are taught exclusively by the greatest living masters. Held in the Spring and Autumn of each year since 2009, they are regarded as the benchmark against which all others are measured.

Classical Fighting Arts magazine is published by the Karate Do Kenkyukai, and is an 84 page full color quarterly periodical printed on glossy paper, and perfect bound. Its is considered to be the most authoritative English language martial arts publication world. Consultancy

We have worked as the principal technical/historical consultants on major martial arts projects with: The Federation of All Japan Karate Associations, the Government of the UAE, Bisham Abbey British Olympic Training Center, The City of Los Angeles, the World Union of Karate Organizations, EMI, the City of London Police and numerous TV and movie production companies. We have also published more than 30 martial arts books and 50+ broadcast quality instructional DVDs.

Archives

Over the last three decades, the Karate Do Kenkyukai, has assembled the largest collection of martial arts historical material in the world in the form of photographic images, documents, books, cinema film, video and other artifacts. Many of our exhibits are very rare, others are unique. As a collection they represent a history of karate in an appropriate historical and cultural context. We plan to present this exhibit in a purpose built museum at a site as yet to be determined.

Current Projects

In addition to the Karate Do Museum project, we have in production a high quality volume,The Pictorial History of Karate, that will be both a reference book for researchers and historians as well a guide to the museum exhibits. We are also organizing an international event to be held in Okinawa during October 2015 to mark the 100th anniversary of Goju Ryu, and another to celebrate the founding of one of the major Okinawan karate groups, 25 years ago.
